Gameweek 11 💪🏼

So Gameweek 10 has been and gone and wow, what a shocker of a week with an average of only 46. Apart from the odd assist and goal, a lot of big players saw small returns. Kane was injured and Aguero didn’t play (and I had both! 🤦🏻‍♂️) which hit a lot of managers hard, especially as Aguero was transferred in by over 700k managers in the week!

My Gameweek 10

I personally had an OK week. I knew GW10 would be tough thanks to the United vs Spurs game, but the Kane injury and Aguero being rested ruined my week before it began.

Sterling as my vice captain bagged a goal and a bonus point after coming as a sub to give me 7 (x 2) = 14 points. Jones took all 3 bonus points against Spurs for a cool 9, and Vardy fired in the opener in the Leicester game taking 2 bonus points with him for a tidy 8. Other than that, my team didn’t get anything more than 2 or 3 points per player. I finished on 46, the EXACT average score for the week.

As for my transfer plans I am looking at D. Silva > Salah, and maybe Vardy > Abraham and Atsu > ??? for as many as -8 points.

Gameweek 11 Fixtures and Players

So Gameweek 11, players to watch…

Mahrez and Vardy seem to be getting back to their old selves after a fantastic team goal against Everton in GW10. They face Stoke away from home and with their new manager at the helm, they could return points again!

Liverpool take on West Ham, but both teams have an array of injuries. West Ham haven’t been great at defending this season and so Salah should have a field day. A great captain pick if you have him, he has looked lethal whenever I’ve watched him play.

Tottenham host Crystal Palace at Home. Since Harry Kane broke his Wembley PL voodoo with a brace in GW8, and the fact he’s set to return for GW11, this means that Kane and Eriksen/Alli should grab some goals and assists amongst themselves. All viable captain picks (especially Kane!)

Elsewhere Manchester City host Arsenal at the Etihad. I wouldn’t expect a clean sheet for either team, and maybe having 3 Manchester City attacking players isn’t going to go so well this coming weekend. Silva or Sterling OUT seems to be the trend.

Chelsea host Manchester United in another big clash. No doubt United will be on the defensive in such a big away game, I’d be surprised to see more than a single goal in this fixture. I’d avoid captains from either team. Hazard however looks to be a deadly option for the future, he scored 11 points in GW10 and should certainly be considered for your team.

Watford face a depleted Everton side and Doucoure and Richarlison seem hot on the points. Richarlison seems the better option (but comes at a higher cost) but makes a great captain differential.

Groß for Brighton cannot go without a mention. He is still cheap and is involved in almost every single goal for BHA. Well worth his price tag if you can fit him in. He has an assist in each of his past 3 weeks with some bonus points too!

Abraham for Swansea is also super cheap and again, worth considering for a cheap third striker. Some positive fixtures approach.

Diouf for Stoke makes a good long term cheap striker option. He scored in GW7, GW8 and GW9 and has a long run of mostly light fixtures.

Zaha for Crystal Palace has returned in good form, with two goals in three games. After the Tottenham game he will have a good run of fixtures, and is still cheap!

Kolasinac may not offer too many clean sheets, but his attacking returns are proving consistent. He scored a huge 14 points after bagging a goal and assist in GW10, 14 points despite losing his clean sheet. Definitely one for when Arsenal’s fixtures lighten up.

Gameweek 11 does offer a few captain choices. For me personally it will be Kane (vs Crystal Palace) as my captain, and Salah (vs West Ham) as vice captain (or vice versa depending on how I feel!)

And finally, here’s the GW10 team of the week! 💥

Gameweek 10 💥

It’s Friday evening and the transfer deadline looms, yet today all hell broke loose as yet another top transfer target and highly owned player sees red.

Gameweek 9 taught many FPL managers that early / irrational transfers are not wise. Sterling and Jesus for Manchester City were transferred in by hundreds of thousands of managers with little or no attention paid to their recent minutes and Pep’s killer rotation policy, as Sterling scored 0 with no minutes played and Jesus made a small appearance for a single point.

Gameweek 10 has done it again, this time with popular point hoarder and two times Golden Boot winner Harry Kane announced as sidelined for the Tottenham vs Manchester United fixture. If you transferred Kane in earlier this week then this should be a lesson… await the press conferences for Premier League which come late in the week, just for that safety net should you need it!

So what are managers to do?

If you don’t have Kane, no problem! Crack on with your Friday evening and ready yourself for what will be an interesting weekend for many FPL managers.

If you have Kane then you have a few options. Transfer him out (likely at the cost of -4), bench him, or play your Free Hit.

Kane is currently said to 50/50 for a return for the Crystal Palace match where if fit, Kane is highly likely to bag double digit points yet again. So benching him (as I have done) is not a bad option. Kane may drop in a value a little over this week, so keep that in mind if you bought him at a high price, as you may lose team value (not an issue if you intend to keep!)

If you’re set on transferring him out, Jesus or Aguero seem the obvious options (although Aguero played 120 minutes midweek!). Morata and Lacazette are another pair of viable alternatives.

If you have your Free Hit chip, you can activate this. Here are some pointers…

▪️ It allows you to select an entirely new team for ONE week only. After that, you get your old team back.

▪️ Any transfers you’ve already made this gameweek will be reversed, including price changes. It’ll be as if the transfers never happened.

▪️ If you have 2 free transfers and activate your Free Hit, you will lose that banked free transfer for GW11.

▪️ There will likely be a blank Gameweek on GW31. Your Free Hit chip would be very useful for GW31, so only use it this week if you HAVE to.

So that’s the Kane situation sorted (sort of).

Captain choices © come in plenty this week.

Some quick fire choices include:

Jesus, Aguero, Sane Morata, Hazard, Lacazette, Sanchez, Salah, Richarlison…

Who do you pick? Well that’s up to you. All are very likely going to see returns this week.

Thats all I’ve time for for now. Have a smashing Gameweek 10 and I wish you all good luck ⚽️ @FPLchampion
